JAMMU, Oct 2: Defeating Purchase Circle XI and Commercial & Planning XI in the semifinals respectively, EM &RE and Systems & Operations XI sealed berth in the finals and will take on each in the summit clash at Green Field Ground, Gandhi Nagar, here.
In the first semifinal, EM &RE trounced Purchase Circle in an easy contest. Batting first, Purchase Circle scored a modest total of 128 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Ratnish Puri top scored with 42 runs, while JP Singh and Hiteshwar Singh contributed 24 runs each. For EM&RE, Darshan and Surinder took 3 wickets each.
EM&RE chased the target in 17.5 overs. Varinder top scored with 30 runs, while Surinder and Manmeet contributed 18 and 12 runs respectively. Amarjeet took 2 wickets for Purchase Circle XI.
In another semifinal, Systems and Operations XI got the better of Commercial & Planning XI by 5 runs in a close contest.
System and Operations XI scored a decent total of 172 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Kailash top scored with 34 runs, while Kamal and Manoj contributed 17 runs each., Anil took 3 important wickets, while Varat and Arjun claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Commercial and Planning XI scored 167 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 5 runs. Tahir top scored with 74 runs, while Jyoti contributed 45 runs to the total. Ajit Singh scalped 3 important wickets, while Kailash and Iqbal shared 2 wickets each.
