JAMMU, Sept 11: Aryan Mahajan claims gold in U-1700 event of the $3000 Presper Financial Architects Open at Akron, Ohio.
Undefeated in the round robin group 7 matches, Aryan played Anthony Gianquitti in quarterfinal and won by 3-1, played Imrul Kayesn in semifinal and again won 3-0, while playing against Alper Sezer in the final, Aryan defeated him by 3-2 to win the title.
In U-1800 event, Aryan bagged claimed 2nd place in the Round Robin group. He played Jason Zhang in quarterfinal and won 3-1 and played Kevin Swan in semifinal to win by 3-1.
However, in the final Aryan lost to Deb Ghosh 1-3.
Over 100 participants took part in the tournament, which was sanctioned by USATT.
Aryan has actively been participating in other events including $3000 Newgy Ohio Open 2017 where he emerged 1st in U-1900 and 2nd in U-1800.
He also participated in 2017 Milcreek Giant Round Robin where he claimed 2nd spot in U-1800.
He trains under coach, Samson Dubina.
