Old town cricket league 2017 concludes

Baramulla, Mar 31: As part of its untiring and unceasing efforts to integrate the local youth with the mainstream and to enhearten the sporting culture in the valley, “Old Town Cricket League, Baramulla” was conducted by 46 RR Bn (Sikh) under the aegis of HQ 19 Arty Bde / Dagger Division.  The tournament witnessed participation of 08 teams from old town of Baramulla district.
The Final was played between Baramulla Sports and Gold Star at Jhelum Stadium, here today.  Several prominent personalities from district and civil administration including senior officers were present on the occasion, in addition to members of the Sports counsil and District Cricket Association.  The tournament provided a platform to the young budding sportsman to showcase the talent.  Awards from various categories were also presented during the grand final and was a huge success, which was proved by the massive participation of youth of Baramulla.
The tournament also generated a feeling of nationalism among the youth and motivated them to stay in the national mainstream, thereby improving the overall sit in the district.  Such a tournament has indeed helped the army in projecting a humane face and also reviving the dying sports culture in the region.
The annual sporting extravaganza provided a huge platform to the young budding sportsman to showcase their talent.
