RAJOURI, Feb 20: 5th Rajouri District Indian Style Wrestling Championship will be held on February 23, 2017 (Wednesday) at Govt. Higher Secondary School Rajouri, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum, Katra.
General Secretary of the State Association Bansi Lal Tidyal said that the weigh-in of wrestlers will start at 10 am sharp and bouts will start at 11 am.
The wrestlers have been advised to bring their Jangia (Red & Blue) for the smooth conduct of Championship.
Chairman Technical Committee Mulkh Raj Sharma said that the championship will be held in the seven weight categories of 50Kg, 55Kg, 61Kg, 67Kg, 75Kg, 85Kg, 97Kg, and above up to 120Kg as par the latest norms of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India.
General Secretary Rajouri District Indian Style Wrestling Association Ankur Gupta said that the gold medallists in each weight category will also participate in the coming “Senior State Indian Style Wrestling Championship”, adding that certificates and medals will also be awarded to the wrestlers.
