JAMMU, Dec 10: In a nail-biting friendly cricket match played at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, Media-XI trounced Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Club (SKCC) by six wickets.
After winning the toss, SKCC, led by Aman Cheema, chose to bat first and added huge 173 runs’ target on board in twenty overs with the loss of five wickets.
Sumeet and Manmohan Khajuria of SKCC made highest 54 runs in 35 and 50 balls for the team.
Yash Kahjuria of Media-XI took highest two wickets in his four overs’ spell. Ashu Mehra and Vivek Suri took one wicket each for the team.
Chasing the target, Media-XI, led by skipper Mir Imran chased the target by hitting a splendid four on last ball of the twenty overs’ match.
Ashwani hit highest 78 runs in 49 balls for the team while, Amit Kumar hit second highest 34 in 19 balls and Vivek Suri 15 in 16 balls.
For SKCC, Rakesh took highest two wickets in 4 overs giving 28 runs. Manmohan Khajuria also took one wicket for the team.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLC-Firdous Tak was the chief guest on the occasion, who assured to provide all possible help, including sports kits, to the Media-XI team.
He said, “There is no dearth of talented sports person in Jammu and Kashmir and I assure that PDP-BJP government will always help them shine whenever it would be required.”
Desh Rattan Dubey, Joint Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association was the guest of the honour during the friendly match. He also promised to organize a mega friendly cricket match for Media-XI team.
