Akhil to lock horns with Pankaj in Sub Junior District Snooker C’ship final

JAMMU, Aug 30: Akhil Gupta will lock horns with Pankaj in the summit clash of the ongoing Sub Junior District Snooker Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier in the first semis, Akhil Gupta beat Abhik Bhat by straight 2-0 frames (59-32 and 62-26), whereas in the second semifinal, Pankaj defeated Sanand Sharma by 2-1 frames. The first frame was won by Sanand by 57-48 and the game was equalized by Pankaj by winning the second frame by 55-17. In the third and decider frame, Pankaj registered win over Sanand by 57-7.
Meanwhile, in District Junior Snooker Championship, which commenced today, seven cueists—Vipan Malhi, Ishan Singh, Shivam Gupta, Ansh Chopra, Varun Kumar, Basit Wani and Pankaj Kumar crushed their rivals and sailed into the next stage of the Championship.
In the first match, Vipan Malhi defeated Akash Mahajan by straight 2-0 frames (40-20), while in the second match, Ishan Singh registered win over Varun Jamwal by 2-0 frames (77-57 and 49-35).
Shivam Gupta smashed Ananya in the third match by straight 2-0 frames (67-48 and 44-24), whereas in the fourth game, Ansh Chopra outplayed Lakshyjeet Singh by 2-0 frames (57-17 and 72-44).
In the fifth match, Varun Kumar beat Padam Gupta by 2-1 frames. Padam won the first frame by 64-11 and the game was equalized by Varun by winning the second frame by 58-17. In the decider frame, Varun registered win over Padam by 46-40 and advanced into the next stage of the Championship.
Basit Wani routed Aaryamaan in the sixth match by straight 2-0 frames (53-04 and 45-35), whereas in the seventh match, Pankaj Kumar defeated Aasum by 2-0 frames (48-17 and 48-21).
According to JKBSA spokesperson, the draw for Senior Snooker Championship will be taken out tomorrow at 5 pm and the entries received before the allotted time will be entertained.
