National Sports Day observed

JAMMU, Aug 29: National Sports Day—111th birth anniversary of ‘hockey wizard’ Major Dhyan Chand was observed with enthusiasm.
An exhibition match was played between Stadium XI and District Under 17 Boys Team. The match ended with 1-1 goal. For Stadium XI side, Sobit scored the goal in the 25th minute of the match and for District Under 17 Boys Team, Akash netted the goal in 40th minute of the game. In penalty shootout, Stadium XI won the match by 4-2 goals.
On the occasion, Ram Saroop Sharma, Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary school Poonch was the chief guest who awarded the winner and runner-up teams in presence of Madan Lal Sharma, Principal, who was the guest of honor. Nirdosh Kumar, Incharge Sports Stadium Poonch, Mustaq Ahmed, Boxing Coach and Ram Prakash were also present.
The match was officiated by Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey, Pawan Kumar, NIS Hockey, Harmik Singh and Rishev.
Bhargav Public School Gadigarh today remembered hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand on his 111th birthday anniversary.
A function was organized in the school premises, in which Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) senior leader Pt. Ashok Khajuria was chief guest, while as Principal of the School Vikas Sharma and School Hockey Team Coach Angad Singh were also present there.
Floral tributes were paid to Dhyan Chand by students along with Ashok Sharma and others.
Floral tributes were also paid to Major Dhyan Chand at his temple at KK Hakku Stadium by Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman, Sports Council Jammu, players and coaches. Manager KK Hakku Stadium SP Singh was also present on the occasion.
