JAMMU, Sept 25 : A five day workshop on ‘Broadcasting Skills’ took off here today at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar , here today.
The college has organised the workshop in collaboration with Department of Life Long Learning, University of Jammu.
The Chief Guest Dr Poonam Dhawan, Director, Department of Life Long Learning, inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the importance of acquiring skills for the job market. She specially spoke on the benefit of learning broadcasting skills as this is the most popular and emerging area of employment.
Ravi Mangotra, Programme Incharge, Radio Kashmir Jammu(RKJ) who was the Guest of honour apprised the students about the technical aspects of Radio announcing.
Soujanya Sharma, Joint Director Information Department was the special invitee who spoke on the nuances of Radio and Television Broadcasting.
Prof Rita Jitendra, former Principal and eminent Radio broadcaster was the programme Coordinator. She introduced the theme of the workshop and motivated the students.
Dr Bharti Prabhakar, from Department of Life Long Learning University of Jammu efficiently coordinated the programme.
Principal of the College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi presided over the function and encouraged the students to enthusiastically participate in such skill enhancing programmes.
Two technical sessions were conducted on the first day of the workshop.
Dr Ravi Mangotra the resource person for first session, spoke on “Radio Formats”, while Prof Rita Jitendra, resource person for second session spoke on “Voice Modulation for Radio”.
The workshop was keenly attended by the students, IQAC members and the staff.
Meanwhile, the college also organised a day long workshop on ‘Mental Health of Women’.
A renowned clinical psychologist Dr Sharda Sree Devi Amma was the Resource Person and Principal of the college Dr. Kiran Bakshi was the chief Guest.
The program began with lightening of the traditional lamp , while Prof Manisha Kohli (HoD Psychology) welcomed the guests and threw light upon the importance of mental health of women in present times .
Dr Kiran Bakshi, in her address said that this was the need of the hour to make women aware about their mental health.
