JAMMU, May 25: Five athletes of Wushu Association of J&K have made it to National Wushu Coaching Camp for the preparation of the Indian Wushu team.
The Indian team will participate in the 9th Asian Wushu Championship to be held at Taiwan, China September 1 to 5.
The camp with the support of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has started from May 20 to June 30 at Shilaroo. One month exposure training at Shangdong, China will be held from July 1 to 30, vis-à-vis at SAI Bhopal or NS NIS Patiala from August 1 to 30.
Kuldeep Handoo of J&K Police has been appointed as Chief Coach of India and has been assigned the task to take care of the National Wushu team.
The Campers include Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh (Bronze Medalist in the World Championship) and Rajinder Singh (International Medalist), presently working in J&K Police, Abhishek Jamwal and Pradeep Kumar.
Meanwhile, all the office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K have requested Chief Minister and Sports Minister for the acknowledgment of the record breaking performance of the Wushu in J&K and full support in shape of proper equipments, infrastructure and recognition to the players and coaches, who had made Country and State proud.
