JAMMU, Feb 10: Government SPMR College of Commerce won the Inter-Collegiate Cricket (Men) Tournament after beating P.G Law & Sciences, Jammu University team in the final at Varsity ground, here today.
SP Vaid, ADGP was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who gave away the trophy to the winners, while Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Arvind Jasrotia, HoD Department of Law, Ajaz Malik, Physical Director, Commerce College, Prof. Sanjay Singh, Jasvant Singh, Amit Sharma, Dr. Brij Baloria, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia and Jai Bharat.
Earlier, batting first, PG Law and Science scored a decent total of 153 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Naman (49), Gokul Baru (44) and Arun Singh were the main contributors. For Commerce College, Kulvinder S, Mohit Gupta and Shubam claimed one wicket each
In reply, Commerce College chased the target in 19.4 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Sunny, Hritik Gupta, Tushar and Shubham Singh Pundir contributed 28, 28, 27 and 19 runs to the total respectively . For PG Law and Science, Soumay Jain and Khalid took 3 wickets each, while Arun Singh and Ajesh claimed one each.
The final match was officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Suresh Singh, Vijay Dogra and Rajkumar Bakshi, In-charge Inter-College Cricket (Men) Tournament , while the tournament was conducted under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
