Jammu, Dec 5: Army Public School, Udhampur celebrated its annual day function today. The function was attended by Maj Gen KJS Gill, GOC 71 Sub Area , the Patron of the school. School Principal, Sanjeev Kumar, presented the school Annual Report showcasing the schools achievements in the various fields.
In the field of Academics, Class 12th toppers for 2014-15 were Banniti Jasrotia of Commerce, Rhythm Jandiyal of Science and Priyanshu Pandey of Humanities with 93 %, 91.4 % and 90.8 % marks respectively.
The class X students achieved excellent results with 23 students and 8 teachers being commended by the HRD Minister Smriti Irani for scoring 10 CGPA. Sidhanth Luna and Mandeep Yadav of the school have joined the NDA & TES respectively.
In the field of sports, the school bagged the winning trophies of the Command level competition as well as the debate competition. The team will now participate in the national debate Championship. The school has lifted the championship trophy in the Northern Command Inter APS Sports tournaments for Boys in Hockey, Football, Basket ball and Badminton. The girls teams won the trophy in Basketball and Badminton.
The best player of the tournament was bagged by Mannat Soni & Karan Dev Singh in Basketball, Netar in Hockey & Adhiraj Goswami in Football. Anish Sundram, Aditya Anand of Class X & XI have bagged the Gold, Parth Yadava has got the Silver and Umang Randhawa has won the Bronze at the Shooting Championship.
Seven girls of the school have been selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi.
Based upon the theme of ‘Incredible India’ , the students presented mesmerizing cultural programme depicting various folk dances of India ranging from Dogri , Gujarati and Goan Dance. The focus was “Atulya Bharat, Amulya Sanskriti” showcasing the heritage and values of our amazing motherland.
The tiny tots of the Primary wing of the school stole hearts with their heartwarming musical tribute to the brave martyrs of the armed forces and their interpretations of fairy tale Classic ‘Snow White & the Seven Dwarf”. Among other show stealers were the energetic Zumba performance, Punjabi Folk dance and tribal dance by students of classes 4, 5 ,6 and 8.A thought provoking mime act by students of class 7 on the current day evils of child labour and deforestation as well as mission ‘Swacch Bharat’ was also very well received.
The patron and Chief Guest of the function, Maj Gen KJS Gill, exhorted the students and teachers to aim for greater heights and appealed to the parents to encourage their children.
