JAMMU, Nov 28: Secretary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, Javaid Ahmed Shah declared the 22nd State Billiards and Snooker Championship open in an impressive and well attended function at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, Abdul Qayoom, Ravi Singh, Sidharth Sharma, Rahil Singh, Rajan Sharma, Ashok Singh, Sanjeev Gupta Vishal Abrol, Jaideep Manocha, Nikhil Kapahi and Sohail Khalid.
On the occasion, the organizers addressed the difficulties being faced by the cueists in absence of requisite infrastructure at the Billiards Hall and the chief guest assured them for redressal of all the problems regarding infrastructure and allied things. He said that he has taken note of the things and will take initiatives to raise the infrastructure at the Hall.
Earlier, Sidharth Sharma, chairman J&K Billiards and Snooker Association presented welcome address and highlighted the problems.
In 1st round of Sub Junior Snooker, Ansh Chopra defeated Khushal Singh (2-0) by (46-11, 70-30), Jonty Singh outplayed Akshit Gupta (2-0) by (72-18, 61-22), Aasim Rashid trounced Avneesh Ahmed (2-1) by (53-40, 42-54, 86-48), Ishan Singh drubbed Aryan Katal (2-0) by (62-37, 49-40), Kunal Jamwal beat Pranav Chopra (2-0) by (52-37, 55-53), Padam Gupta got better of Bharat Bhogal (2-0) by (54-31, 55-24), Basit Wani prevailed over Umar Sheikh (2-1) by (49-56, 70-11, 50-16) and Arjun Singh defeated Rajan Basu (2-0) by (50-4, 84-01).
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association has informed that the last date for entry for Junior Snooker event is November 29, 2015.
