JAMMU, Oct 26: 37th J&K State Inter-District Table Tennis Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association (JKTTA) got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The tournament is being played in 11 categories, which included cadet boys, cadet girls, sub junior boys, sub junior girls, junior boys, junior girls, youth boys, youth girls, men’s, women’s and veteran’s categories.
Around 250 players drawn from all districts of the State are participating in the event.
The tournament was inaugurated by SK Sharma, Executive Director Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Northern Region-II.
SK Sharma on this occasion impressed upon the players to play the game in true sportsmanship and exhorted them to give their best performance in these matches which would boost their confidence for national level events. He appreciated the efforts of JKTTA for organizing such events, which create an atmosphere for encouragement of sports in the State.
Prominent among those who were present on this occasion were VK Magoo, Working president JKTTA, Sanjeev Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Mandeep Kour, Narinder Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Satish Gupta, Rajan Sharma , Sheetal Gandotra, Sandeep Singh and Meenu.
The tournament is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council and supported by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
