JAMMU, Sept 3: Alexander Memorial School, Jammu celebrated the Teachers Day in a unique manner, here today.
Rajesh Gupta , MLA Jammu East was the chief guest and ID Soni, State Commissioner Bharat scouts and Guides, was the guest of honour.
Rev. Udai Singh, Presbyter-in-charge St. Paul’s Church, members of managing Committee and several other dignitaries also graced the occasion by their presence.
Earlier, Principal, Esther William welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished guests. She asked both the teachers and  the students to imbibe the teaching of Dr Sarvapali Radhakrishnan as well as Dr. Abdul Kalam. She said this year the Teachers Day was dedicated to Dr. Abdul Kalam.
After the customary bouquet presentation and lighting of the lamp, the programme started with a word of prayer by Rev. Udai Singh followed by welcome address by the Principal.
The Senior students presented a mind bending and enlightening inter-faith intrinsic integration programme reciting Bhajans, Naat, Gurubani anf Biblical prayers reflecting pluralistic society and secular ethos of the country.  It was followed by two short stories by tiny tots and a heart throbbing Qawali by the senior students.
The chief guest gave away prizes and also addressed the audience. He lauded the performance of the students and impressed upon them the need to preserve and strengthen socio-cultural heritage and ‘Guru-Shish Parpara’.
The proceedings of the Programme was conducted by S K Munshi, School Coordinator and the vote of thanks was presented by Rajni Kaul.
Prominent among those who accompanied Mr Gupta were Karan Singh, Gulshan Mahajan, Pardeep Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Dali, Chaman Lal, Raj Kumar, Surinder Anand, Charanjeet, Jagjeevan, Kanav and Rajesh Nischal.
