PULWAMA, May 24: Shah-e-Hamdan Cricket Tournament, being organized by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Tral, under the aegis of Chinar Corps & Victor Force for the youth of South Kashmir concluded at Tsaraligund cricket ground, here today.
The final match of the tournament was played between Montiqui Sports, Awantipora and Singh XI, Dharamgund.
Earlier, Singh XI, Dharamgund after winning the toss and elected to bat first, scored a modest total of 109 runs in 17 overs.
In reply, Montiqui Sports, Awantipora was bundled out for a paltry total of 80 runs in 15.3 overs, to lose the match by 29 runs. Mohd Riaz of Singh XI was awarded man of the match for taking 5 wickets, while Gurdeep Singh of the same team was declared man of the series for taking 10 wickets and scoring 268 runs in the tournament. Both the teams played exceptional cricket and showed true sportsman spirit in their conduct.
Major General, Arvind Dutta, VSM, General Officer Commanding Victor Force was the chief guest on the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes.
A trophy, cash award of Rs 25,000 and a cricket kit was presented to the winning team, while a cash award of Rs 12,000 and a cricket kit was presented to the runners-up team on the occasion. Apart from this many more prizes and cash rewards were presented to the players, officials and to the teams which achieved 3rd and 4th position. Brig Anmol Sood, Cdr 1 Sect RR and SSP Awantipora Mohammad Irshad were also in attendance to encourage the players. Besides the above, Maj Gen Arvind Dutta, VSM gave an incentive of Rs 10,000 to tournament of school teams being played at the venue.
