JAMMU, Apr 28: The Zonal Level Inter-School competitions, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports are in full swing at various zones, here.
Apart from the other zones, the competitions were held in the zones of Gandhi Nagar, Jourian, Akhnoor, Arnia and Marh.
The Inter-School Tournament in boys section in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Wrestling and Cricket, under the age group of 14 and 17 years concluded at Govt GHS Jourian, here Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu was the chief guest in the opening ceremony, while Principal HSS Jourian was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony.
The Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Navin Agarwal.
The four-day tournament of this zone is being conducted under the supervision of Veer Ji Bhat, ZPEO Jourian.
The final match of Volleyball Under-14 boys was won by Nirmala HS, defeating MS Bandwal Colony.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Sham Krishan Singh, Kulbir Singh, Parmila, Jagan Nath, Devinder Singh, Virender Singh, Sham Lal and Joginder Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were B K Tickoo, Banarasi Dass and Josy Koul.
The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament for boys and girls under the age group of 14 and 17 years was held under the supervision of Anju Gupta, ZPEO Akhnoor at Govt HSS Akhnoor.
Around 400 girls and 350 boys participated in the Tournament.
HSS Nariwala defeated HSS Sohal by 2 points in Kabaddi boys, while HS Kot Ghari outplayed HS Garkhal by 7 points.
In Kho-kho, Chander Bhaga High School Akhnoor drubbed HS Kotli Tanda by 3 points, while in Volleyball, Chander Bhaga High School Akhnoor beat DCM Public School by (2-0).
The Tournament at Gandhi Nagar zone was inaugurated by Ashok Singh, Manager MA Stadium, Jammu alongwith Sher Singh, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Gandhi Nagar.
Kabaddi and Kho-Kho Under-14 and Under-17 competitions were held.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports organized Inter-School Tournaments of boys and girls of Arnia zone under the supervision of Hrishikesh Kaul, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Arnia.
Ashok Kumar Sharma, Principal, HSS Arnia was the chief guest on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Utter Saini, Kamal Saini, Yashpal Saini, Mulk Raj, Madan Lal, Rakesh Kumar and Chanchala Devi.
In Under-17 Volleyball, GHSS Allah defeated HS Saidgarh, while in kabaddi Under-17, HS Saidgarh defeated HS Treva.
In Kabaddi Under-14, MS Koolkalan beat HS Saidgarh, while in Kho-Kho Under-17 GHSS Arnia got better of GHSS Allah and in Kho-Kho Under-14 boys, HS Arnai beat HS Treva.
The Inter-School Zonal Level Tournament of Marh zone was held at GHSS Marh, under the overall supervision of Jasbir Singh, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Marh.
In Under-17 Kho-Kho final, GHS Gajansoo beat GHSS Ghou-Manhasan by 6 points, while in kabaddi Under-14 boys final, GHS Burj Mandir defeated GHS Gajansoo by 5 points.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 boys final, BMS Akalpur beat MRLD by one point, while in Under-17 boys final, HSS Ghou Manhasan prevailed over HS Gajansoo by one point.
The matches were officiated by Kusum Lata, Pritam Lal, Poonam Sharma, Surinder Pal Singh and Mahadev Singh.
