SRINAGAR, Apr 4 : Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police today started a two day course on “Emergency Response and Disaster management Course” meant for the Jawans of armed police which was inaugurated by ADGP Armed SM Sahai, here today.
The course will be conducted at Armed Police Complex Zewan. ADGP also launched a plantation drive at Zewan complex.
Other senior police officers including IGP IRP Sunil Kumar, DIG IR/AP Mushtaq Sadiq, CO AP 9th Zubair Ahmad Khan, CO AP 12th Bakar Samoon, CO IR 2nd SSP Mohammad Aslam and SSP APCR Abid Qadoos were also present on the occasion.”
“September 2014 taught us many lessons. We have to remain ready for any eventuality”, he said. “Disaster management training and refreshers courses would be conducted at regular occasions to keep the police Jawans ready.”
The spokesperson said Jammu and Kashmir Armed police conducted hundreds of rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations across the valley in September 2014 floods. “About 60 Jawans from different Battalions of the Kashmir based armed police units participated in the 2-day course. The course is held in collaboration with a NGO Sri Sathya Sai Foundation. The experts from the NGO with vast experience in disaster and emergency response are imparting training to the Jawans. They are also be exposed to the latest technology and tips used in the disaster management,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahai stressed upon personnel and officers the need for greenery and environmental friendly measures. He also distributed School bags and other stationery items among students of High School Kenihama Pohru. The school was one of the worst hit in the September 2014 floods.
