RTO Kashmir flags off awareness cycle rally

SRINAGAR, Jan 18: Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah today flagged off awareness cycle rally from RTO Office to Makai Point Boulevard, here.
The event was organized by RTO, Kashmir in collaboration with J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA).
Twenty five top cyclists of the Valley participated from RTO Office to Makai Park Boulevard via Batamalo, Jehangir Chowk, MA Road, Dalgate and Nehru Park.
The cyclists were displaying placards depicting rules for safe and accident free driving.
Enroute to finish point, the cyclists stopped at several places distributing the pamphlets regarding safe driving among the common people and drivers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, said, “Our aim is to make common masses aware about the benefits of safe driving. In any sport to reach the top level, a player needs to follow rules and remain disciplined. Same applies for safe driving, in which a driver needs to follow simple rules and safety precautions”.
He further said, though Road Safety Week concluded on Saturday, but we along with JKSDA decided to organize one more rally to highlight the issue, adding that RTO Office doesn’t want to confine awareness programmes to this week only as it will be organizing many more events throughout the year.
Among others present on the occasion were ARTO,Mubashir Ahmad Jan, ARTO Arif Ahmad Shah, JKSDA Executive Members Nisar Hussain, Reyaz Wani and top cyclists Akber Khan and Umer Nabi.
