J&K Jr Basketball team leaves for Nationals

JAMMU, May 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Junior Men’s Basketball team was flagged off for participation in the National Basketball Championship scheduled to be held in Puducherry from May 22 to 29, 2026. The team completed a 17-day intensive pre-competition training camp at MA Stadium before its departure.
The contingent was screened by the Screening Committee of the J&K Sports Council headed by Arshi Nad, Manager Indoor Complex, MA Stadium. The team will be accompanied by Sachin Dogra, SAI Basketball Coach, as coach, while Ashok Singh Jamwal, Senior Vice President of the J&K Basketball Association (JKBA), will serve as manager during the championship.
The selected players are Anees Mehmood, Varun Sharma, Sahildeep Singh, Neeraj Choudhary, Kartik, Shivam, Ramaneet Singh, Sayam Bhardwaj, Shafiq Ahmad, Raghav Jamwal, Manik Sharma and Manish Yadav.
Aman Sharma, General Secretary of JKBA, thanked the J&K Sports Council authorities for extending support and patronage during every stage of the team’s preparation, including selection trials, coaching camp, screening and participation in the national championship. He expressed confidence that the team would perform well and bring laurels to Jammu and Kashmir at the prestigious event.
