J&K forms Ad-hoc Paragliding Association in Jammu

JAMMU, May 17: In a major step towards promoting adventure sports in the Union Territory, the first-ever Paragliding Association of Jammu & Kashmir (Ad-hoc) was formed unanimously in Jammu to boost the development of paragliding and provide an organised platform for athletes.
The formation of the body marks a significant expansion of adventure sports in the region and aims to give long-awaited recognition to paragliding athletes across Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative will also support structured training, selection processes, and opportunities for participation under the JKUT Games banner.
As per handout issued, Aman Gupta from Jammu/Udhampur has been appointed as President of the association. Shivanshi has been named Incharge Women’s Wing, Jammu Province, while Nahida Manzoor will serve as Incharge Women’s Wing, Kashmir Province. Neeraj Thakur from Ramnagar/Udhampur has been appointed General Secretary.
Sandeep Kumar Parihar from Kishtwar will act as Treasurer, Suresh Kumar Sharma from Doda as Additional Treasurer and Shafqat Ali Bajran from Rajouri as Joint Secretary. Inder Mohan Singh from Ramban has been appointed Joint Secretary as well. Mohd Iqbal Koka from Warwan has been named Secretary, while Firdous Ahmad Naik from Doda will serve as Publicity Secretary.
Officials said the body will work to develop paragliding sites, improve coordination with the administration and explore CSR-based sponsorships. Aman Gupta said the association aims to promote paragliding at national and international levels and provide youth with new opportunities in adventure sports.
