UDHAMPUR, May 4: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Jib, today launched an inter-school zonal-level tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 boys, in line with the annual 2026-27 activity calendar approved by Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K (UT), Anuradha Gupta.
The tournament commenced with competitions in Kabaddi, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Wrestling and Yoga under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Zone Jib, Jyoti Rani Gupta. Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager Sports Council Udhampur, was the chief guest and formally declared the event open, wishing the participants success and encouraging sportsmanship.
A total of 495 students from various Government and private schools participated in the event. The competitions also served as a selection platform for identifying talented players. The technical team, led by Ajit Singh Bandral and Sanjay Sharma, ensured smooth conduct of the events and fair evaluation of performances.
In Yoga (Under-17), Vansh Sharma and Sahil Sharma of HS Laddan secured top positions, while in the Under-14 category, Vijay Kumar of MS Nagrota and Atul Sharma of HS Laddan emerged winners. In Table Tennis (Under-14), Gitansh Thakur of APS Udhampur clinched the title, while Ryan Sharma of APS Udhampur won in the Under-17 category.
In Kabaddi (Under-14), Government High School Upper Thanoa defeated Government High School Bali by 14 points.
