JAMMU, May 3: The National Service Scheme (NSS), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a vibrant cultural evening titled ‘Sampada’ on the university campus, showcasing the artistic talents of its volunteers.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers across various disciplines. ‘Sampada’, meaning ‘wealth’ or ‘prosperity’, lived up to its name as students displayed the rich cultural wealth of the region through a spectrum of performances.
Volunteers moved the audience with self-composed poems centered on various themes by Tanushka and Zeeshan. Soulful solo songs, including bhakti songs and popular Bollywood melodies, were presented by Kajal, Santosh, Vishal, Praveen Giri, etc., earning loud applause.
The stage came alive with energetic dance performances. A special attraction was the duet folk dance by Tanisha Sharma and Mannat, featuring a Himachali folk form that celebrated the cultural heritage of the country. A solo dance performance by Jahnvi was also an attraction of the evening.
NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Rajiv Kumar praised the volunteers, stating, “Sampada is not just a cultural event; it is a platform for our volunteers to express themselves and realize that service to society also includes preserving and promoting our cultural values.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS student coordinator Parvallika, who expressed gratitude to the university administration, faculty, and fellow students for their support. The hall echoed with cheers as the evening ended on a high note, reinforcing NSS SMVDU’s commitment to holistic student development through service and culture.
