JAMMU, May 3: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) team, led by J&K convenor, Ritika Trehan, visited the National Federation for the Blind School in Amphalla and distributed eatables and other essential items among the visually impaired children.
Interacting with the students and staff, Trehan highlighted the pressing need for focused and sustained support for blind children.
She emphasized that overcoming educational and social challenges requires a multi-dimensional approach, including access to specialized education, modern assistive technologies and comprehensive rehabilitation services.
“Visually impaired children possess immense potential but they need the right tools and environment to thrive. Providing resources such as AI-powered vision glasses, Braille learning materials and audio-based educational aids can significantly bridge the gap,” she said.
Highlighting the importance of specialized training, she stressed the need for Orientation and Mobility programs, which help visually impaired individuals to navigate their surroundings confidently.
The BJP leader called upon the society to actively work towards eliminating stigma and social isolation often faced by the visually impaired individuals.
