JAMMU, Apr 23: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, organized its Annual Research Awards Function to felicitate faculty members for excellence in Research and Development. The event highlighted significant academic achievements and was attended by distinguished dignitaries from the University of Jammu and MIET leadership.
Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, was the chief guest, while Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, attended as guest of honour. Other prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET; Prof. S.K. Sharma, Member Board of Directors, MIER Group; Prof. Devanand Padha, Dean Academic Affairs MIET; Prof. Sahil Sawhney, Dean Strategy & Quality Assurance; Prof. Sunita Koul, Dean School of Law; Ajay Khajuria, Professor of Practice and Ashwani Padha, Controller of Examinations.
The institution felicitated over 50 faculty members for their outstanding research contributions and also provided financial incentives. Prof. Ankur Gupta presented the research report, highlighting that since the last awards in 2024, MIET faculty have published 215 research papers, including 201 Scopus-indexed publications and 75 papers in SCI/SCI-E/ESCI indexed journals. He further reported the filing of 20 new patents, taking the total to 77, while 5 patents were granted, bringing the total to 28.
Prof. Umesh Rai inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Skill Development in emerging domains such as Cyber Physical Systems, Additive Manufacturing, Drone Technology, and Electric Vehicles. He appreciated MIET’s research ecosystem and stressed innovation in teaching practices. He also presented research awards and incentives to faculty members. The event was compered by Arushi Gupta, Assistant Professor, Applied Sciences and Humanities.
