JAMMU, Mar 29: The J&K UT Men Hockey Championship 2026 concluded at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu, with Jammu North emerging as champions. The tournament, which began on March 24, saw participation from 17 teams across the Union Territory.
In a thrilling final, Jammu North defeated JKP by 2-1 in a closely contested match. Gurpreet Singh (jersey no. 10) opened the scoring in the 39th minute by converting a penalty corner. Prabhjot Singh (jersey no. 3) equalized for JKP, keeping the match intensely competitive. The winning goal came from Sukhchinder Singh (jersey no. 11) in the 54th minute with a spectacular field goal, securing victory for Jammu North. The match was officiated by umpires Sunil Gupta and Sushil Kumar, with scoring judge Chanveer Singh, timing judge Gargi, technical officer Jaspreet Singh and reserve umpire Sahil Kumar.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma appreciated both teams and played. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council, appreciated the efforts of Hockey J&K under Rajeev Sharma and promised training camps to promote hockey.
Other dignitaries included Dr Taran Singh, Ravinder Singh, Ajay Sharma, Javed Ur Rehman, Jahangir Khan, SS Gill, and Tejinder Singh. Key officials present included P.D. Singh, Rajeev Sharma, Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Mustafa Jamil, Raviraj Singh, Manjit Singh, Vinod Singh, Ranvir Singh, Harjit Singh, Jaswinder Kour, P.P. Singh, Janak Singh and Jagjit Singh, along with players’ parents.
