SRINAGAR, Mar 29: The 5th Jammu & Kashmir UT-Level Carrom Championship 2025-26 was declared open today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Wazirbagh. The championship is organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Carrom Association in association with the District Srinagar Carrom Association and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
As per handout issued around 365 players from across Union Territory, representing schools, colleges and institutions, are participating. Competitions are being held across four categories – Cadet, Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior – for both boys and girls, as well as men and women, showcasing talent across all age groups.
Prominent office bearers present included Mudasir Khan (General Secretary), Arif Sultan (Treasurer), Sheikh Saqib (Joint Secretary) and Adfar Mehraj (Vice President), along with officials from the J&K Sports Council.
Opening Day Results: In the Cadet category, Mohd Hayyan defeated Muneeb Ashraf and Riyan Nazir overcame Shakir Ali in the boys’ matches, while Fatima Farooq defeated Mehak Bashir and Hadiya Fayaz triumphed over Manal Binti Mudasir Khan in the girls’ contests. In the Sub-Junior category, boys’ matches saw Ahsan Elahi beat Fariz Aijaz and Mohd Aneeq defeat Farzan Bin Parvaiz, while Fareen Mukhtar and Maheena Farooq won their respective girls’ matches against Eliza Afrah Khan and Saroosha Tanveer. In the Junior category, Ayan Sajad Shalla and Shahid Gul claimed victories in the boys’ matches, while Zarkat-ul-Nisa and Ifran Gulzar emerged victorious in the girls’ contests. Among the senior players, Furqan Manzoor and Fadeel Tariq won their men’s matches, while Faika Altaf and Safiya Showkat secured wins in the women’s category.
