JAMMU, Feb 14: The two-day Khelo India-NTPC City Open Archery Tournament commenced today at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, with 109 archers from across Jammu & Kashmir participating. The tournament is organized by the Archery Association of J&K under the aegis of the Archery Association of India, NTPC and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
The opening ceremony was graced by Rajeev Sharma, President of the Tennikoit Federation of India and Member, J&K Sports Council, while Vikram Singh, President of the Archery Association of J&K, was the guest of honour. The event was conducted by Anant, Archery Coach, under the supervision of Darshana Devi, Coach of the J&K Police Archery Team.
In the Recurve Boys category, Gold went to Asif Ali with 633 points, Silver to Niteen Sharma (626) and Bronze to Pariv Khajuria (609). In Recurve Girls, Feriha claimed the Gold medal with 149 points.
In the Compound Boys event, Amit Thakur secured Gold with 698 points, followed closely by Anil Kumar taking Silver (697) and Sangarsh Dev Singh winning Bronze (692). Among Compound Girls, Sheetal Devi took Gold (697), Saima Kousar earned Silver (661) and Romica Sharma bagged Bronze (660).
For the Indian Round Boys, Vinod Singh topped the charts with Gold (666), while Nitish Bawa won Silver (659) and Bhawani Jasrotia claimed Bronze (631). In the Indian Round Girls category, Swastika won Gold (647), Meenu Choudhary took Silver (644), and Taniya Sharma earned Bronze (624).
