Masters Athletes win medals in Chess, Karate, Handball

JAMMU, Jan 30: Masters athletes put up a stellar show at the 8th Masters National Games, being held at Pune from January 27 to 31, clinching an impressive haul of medals in Chess, Karate and Handball. The prestigious event was organised by the Masters Games Association Maharashtra under the aegis of the Super Masters Games and Sports Federation (India).
In Chess, the Masters players dominated by securing three gold medals across age categories. Anil Abrol won gold in the 50+ category, Narender Sharma claimed gold in the 35+ category, while Shikha Jain topped the 45+ category, reflecting exceptional strategic skill and consistency.
In Karate, JKP Inspector Amit Kumar Sangra delivered an outstanding performance, winning two gold medals in the 50+ category by topping both Kata and Kumite events.
The Handball teams also brought glory to the UT. The Girls’ 45+ team, captained by Geetanjli Aggarwal, won silver. The Boys’ 30+ team under Romy Kumar secured silver, while the Boys’ 35+ team, led by Sukhjinder Pal Singh, earned bronze.
