JAMMU, Jan 17: Jammu & Kashmir UT created history in Indian Taekwondo as young athlete Samrat Singh won a gold medal in the Sub-Junior Boys U-35 kg category at the 39th Sub-Junior National Taekwondo Championship 2025–26 held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
The prestigious championship was organised by the Delhi Taekwondo Association under the aegis of the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) and supported by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC). Representing Jammu & Kashmir UT, Samrat displayed exceptional skill, discipline and determination to overcome strong competitors from across the country and secure the top podium finish.
A promising trainee of Shield Taekwondo Academy, Doda, Samrat has been training under the expert guidance of Burhan Ud Din Khan (Coach & Referee). His historic achievement has brought immense pride to his academy and added a golden chapter to the sporting history of Jammu & Kashmir. The gold medal reflects the steady growth of Taekwondo and grassroots sports development in the Union Territory.
