Ramban’s Sufyan to represent India at Fencing World Cup in UAE

JAMMU, Jan 7: Sufyan Waheed Sohil, a talented young fencing athlete from Ramsoo area of district Ramban, is once again set to represent India at the prestigious Fencing World Cup to be held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, from January 9 to 12.
Son of Abdul Waheed Sohil, the 19-year-old fencer will be competing in the senior category against top athletes from over 50 participating countries. This marks Sufyan’s fifth appearance at the world level, highlighting his consistency and growing stature in international fencing.
Sufyan has an impressive record at national and international platforms. He represented India at the World University Games in July 2025 and has secured eight national medals during the 2025-26 season.
His notable achievements include two silver medals at the 38th National Games, one silver and one bronze medal at the 36th National Championship, and a gold and a silver medal at the Khelo India University Games.
Currently training in Cuttack, Odisha, Sufyan is scheduled to travel to Dubai via New Delhi on January 8 to participate in the World Cup event.
