JAMMU, Jan 2: The University of Jammu added another glorious chapter to its sporting achievements as its weightlifters delivered an impressive performance at the North East Inter-University Weightlifting Championship 2025-26, held at Punjab University, Chandigarh (Punjab).
In a remarkable feat, Pankaj Sharma of the University of Jammu clinched a Silver Medal in the 94+ kg weight category, demonstrating exceptional strength, technical skill and competitive spirit against strong contenders from various universities across the region. His podium finish stands as a significant achievement for the University and highlights the high standard of training imparted to its athletes.
Further enhancing the University’s success, two other lifters, Suhail Abbas (79 kg) and Vasu Sharma (65 kg), put up commendable performances and successfully qualified for the forthcoming All India Inter-University Weightlifting Championship 2025-26.
The achievement also reaffirms the University’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and promoting competitive sports at national and international levels. The Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, along with the entire sports fraternity, congratulated the medallist and the qualified lifters, applauding the coaching staff for their guidance and support.
