RAMBAN, Dec 25: District Police Ramban today inaugurated a Cricket Tournament under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) to promote sports culture among youth. Sixteen teams from across the district are participating in the knockout-format tournament, which began with the inaugural match between Team FB Sports Banihal and Team Khan Brothers Banihal.
The ceremony was graced by N. Ranbir Singh, Commandant 84th Battalion, as chief guest and Sameer Malik, former Ranji Trophy player and chief selector JKCA (Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban), present as dignitary. Members of civil society, retired police personnel and NOKs of police martyrs’ families also attended.
The tournament has been conducted under guidance of Arun Gupta, SSP Ramban and supervised by Addl SP Mujeeb ur Rehman, DySP DAR Ramban Kuldeep Kumar and RI DPL Ramban Inspector Sanjay Manhas, with active support from District Youth Services and Sports officials. A plantation drive was also held, promoting environmental protection and community engagement.
