JAMMU, Dec 13: Sahara Hockey Club (SHC) and Khelo India Hockey Club (KIHC) B registered emphatic victories in their respective matches on the opening day of the Jammu District Women’s Hockey Championship 2025 at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Hockey Jammu and Kashmir under the presidentship of Gurdeep Singh and marks the first-ever district-level women’s hockey tournament in J&K.
In the first match, Sahara Hockey Club defeated Jaksh Excelsior Hockey Club by a comprehensive margin of 7-0. Maniksha starred with four goals scored in the 3rd, 11th, 17th and 33rd minutes, including one conversion from a penalty corner. Monika added a field goal in the 5th minute, Shivani struck in the 17th minute, while Aruhi completed the tally with a goal in the 36th minute.
The second match saw Khelo India Hockey Club B overpower Khelo India Hockey Club A by 7-0. Hema scored a hat-trick with field goals in the 10th, 13th and 23rd minutes. Jersey Number 2 netted two goals in the 14th and 16th minutes, while Simran and Anshika scored one goal each to seal the win.
Rajeev Sharma, Member J&K Sports Council and General Secretary, Hockey J&K, was the chief guest on the occasion. Minakshi and Sarabjeet Kour officiated as umpires, while Anu Sharma, Anjali Thakur, Jagjit Singh and Sahil performed duties as technical officers.
The final of the championship will be played between Sahara Hockey Club and Khelo India Hockey Club B tomorrow (on December 14) at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium.
