JAMMU, Dec 7: KB Public Higher Secondary School, Jammu, celebrated its grand Annual Function at prestigious Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT), Channi Himmat.
MLA Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest on the occasion. The celebrations were further enriched by the guest of honour, Dr R D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu. Among other eminent dignitaries present were Arshad Ali Choudhary, Chairman GDCT; Sadiq Azad, General Secretary GDCT; Bashir Ahmed Noon, Financial Advisor GDCT; Nazia Ahmed Choudhary, Director KBPS; and Principal Nehreer Khan, whose dynamic leadership continues to inspire the school community.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, performed by distinguished guests, symbolising the triumph of knowledge over ignorance. This was followed by an eloquent welcome address by Sumaiya Mariyam, setting a graceful tone for the proceedings. Bouquets were presented by Principal Nehreer Khan and Chairman Arshad Ali Choudhary as a gesture of respect and welcome.
In her annual report, Principal Nehreer Khan highlighted school’s achievements across academics, sports and infrastructure, including the inauguration of the new Administrative Block and the newly constructed school gate.
The cultural programme showcased an energetic Gojri Dance, soulful Qawwali, “Incredible India” theme presentation, English play “The Dear Departed”, a melodious mashup song and a spirited Bhangra, reflecting the diversity and talent of the students. The prize distribution ceremony honoured achievers in academics and co-curricular activities.
Dignitaries praised the school’s efforts, with Director Nazia Ahmed Choudhary applauding staff dedication, Dr R D Sharma commending academic excellence and Chairman Arshad Ali Choudhary reaffirming the Trust’s mission of offering free education to needy students. Chief guest Vikram Randhawa lauded the cultural presentations and encouraged students to strive for excellence. A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Bashir Ahmed Noon, appreciating everyone’s contribution. The event was anchored by Arushi Jamwal, Amreen Khatoon and Maryam Nisha.
