JAMMU, Nov 27: The 2nd day of the five-day 42nd Junior (Boys & Girls) National Tennikoit Championship, being organized by the J&K Tennikoit Association under the aegis of the Tennikoit Federation of India in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, witnessed thrilling action at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The chief guest, Sharat Chander Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Joint Secretary of the Athletics Federation of India, emphasized the role of sports in channelizing youth energy positively and called for regular events to promote games in J&K. Guest of honour, Iqbal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, also lauded the efforts to provide competitive platforms for budding athletes.
On the day, several league matches showcased intense competition. Notable results included Boys J&K beat Chhattisgarh by 3-0, Andhra Pradesh beat Assam by 3-0, Delhi beat Rajasthan by 3-0 and Kerala beat Himachal Pradesh by 3-0 were some results. In the girls’ category, Telangana beat Bihar by 3-0, Andhra Pradesh defeated Punjab by 3-0 and Pondicherry overcame MP by 3-0. Quarterfinals witnessed Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka advancing after impressive wins.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of K.N.V. Satyanarayan (Chairman, Technical Committee) and D. Shankar (Convener), ensuring fair play and adherence to federation guidelines. The event continues to highlight emerging talent in Indian Tennikoit.
