Jammu University wins two fencing medals at KIUG-2025

JAMMU, Nov 26: The University of Jammu opened its medal account at the Khelo India University Games 2025 in Rajasthan with an impressive performance in fencing, bringing home two individual medals.
Harshit Kohli emerged victorious in the Sabre Individual event, defeating defending Champion Abhay Shinde of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Marathwada University, Maharashtra by 15-12 in a thrilling final to claim gold. Shivansh Kapoor also showcased his skills, winning the bronze medal in the Epee Individual event. Kapoor narrowly lost to Sufiyan Waheed of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in a close semi-final match, finishing by 13-15.
Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, applaud the medallists and the entire fencing contingent for bringing laurels to the University. He also appreciated the dedication of Coach Ajay Kumar and University Contingent Manager Vikas Karlopia. Gratitude was further extended to Rashid Ahmed Chowdhary, Ujwal Gupta, Bhisham Singh and Padam Dev Singh for their collective coaching and guidance in achieving this success.
