UDHAMPUR, Nov 5: The District Udhampur Tennis Ball Cricket Association successfully concluded the 1st District Udhampur Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at Subhash Stadium, here today witnessing energetic participation of students from various schools over two days.
On the opening day, matches in the Under-14 category remained the main attraction. Delhi Public School clinched the top position, while Bright Career High School, Ghari Udhampur and Princeton English Academy, Ghari Udhampur secured the first and second runner-up spots, respectively.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, was the chief guest on the occasion. She was accompanied by DYSSO Udhampur and the Manager, Sports Council Udhampur.
The concluding day featured Under-17 category matches in which Princeton English Academy emerged champions. Bright Career High School, Ghari Udhampur bagged the runner-up position, while Delhi Public School secured the third spot.
The closing ceremony was presided over by DySP Headquarters J&K Police Udhampur, Perlad Sharma. Besides prize distribution, an awareness programme on anti-drug abuse and the significance of sports in youth development was also conducted.
