JAMMU, Nov 4: Left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar continued his sensational form in the C.K. Nayudu Trophy U-23, claiming a five-wicket haul against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi International Stadium, Motera. Fresh off a remarkable 9-wicket performance against Meghalaya, Vishal once again proved to be the key performer for Jammu & Kashmir.
Gujarat, batting first, posted a competitive 320 runs. Kushan Shyam Patel anchored the innings with 97 off 227 balls, including 12 boundaries, while Rudra Mayur Patel contributed 56 off 128 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. Vishal Kumar’s 30.4-over spell yielded 5 wickets for 80 runs, with crucial support from Manit (3 wickets) and Sarvashish (2 wickets).
In reply, J&K reached 65/3 at stumps on Day 3. Akash Ayoub Bhat top-scored with 31, while Mehran Ahmed Mir (6) and Udhay Partap Singh (5) were dismissed. Yuvraj Saini (13)* and captain Shivansh Sharma (1)* remained unbeaten. For Gujarat, Shen Patel took two wickets, and Kushan Shyam Patel claimed one, keeping pressure on J&K.
