UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: The three-day District Open Table Tennis Championship, organized by the District Table Tennis Association Udhampur under the aegis of the J&K Table Tennis Association and in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, concluded here today.
The closing ceremony was graced by MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia as chief guest and SHO Udhampur Purab Singh as guest of honour. Addressing the participants, Mankotia encouraged young players to pursue the sport with dedication and emphasized the government’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and training facilities in the region.
The finals witnessed thrilling contests across categories. Sukant Ganotra defeated Unnat Magotra by 3-2 in the Under-11 Boys final, Prisha Sharma beat Adhira Singh by 3-2 in the Under-13 Girls final, and Ujjwal Verma trounced Viren Thakur by 3-0 in the Under-17 Boys final. In senior categories, Kajal Devi defeated Adhira Singh by 3-1, while Madhav Sharma edged past Sourav Sharma by 3-2 in the Men’s final. Prizes were distributed among winners in the presence of Vinod Baru (President), Rahul Magotra, Akash Sharma and other dignitaries
