JAMMU, Oct 29: The 48th Jammu District Table Tennis Championships witnessed thrilling action as young and veteran players showcased remarkable talent across multiple categories.
In the Men’s Singles final, Maanay Mansotra defeated Akhilesh Kahjuria by 3-1 to claim the championship, while Mishti Aggarwal edged past Myrah Dewan by 3-2 to lift the Women’s Singles title. In the Men’s semi-finals, Maanay beat Samarth Nischal by 3-0 and Akhilesh overcame Akash by 3-2 in a closely contested match.
The junior and sub-junior categories saw emerging talents making their mark. In Hops Boys U-11, Satvik Nischal won with Anushthan Gupta as runner-up, while Hops Girls U-11 saw Syrah Dewan lift the trophy, defeating Rithanya. Cadet Boys U-13 winner was Saiyam Nischal, with Aahaan Anand as runner-up; Cadet Girls U-13 winner was Syrah Dewan, defeating Alena Arora. Sub-Junior Boys U-15 title went to Saiyam Nischal, Sub-Junior Girls U-15 winner was Myrah Dewan. Junior Boys U-17 champion was Samarth Nischal and Junior Girls U-17 winner was Myrah Dewan.
In veteran categories, Vipin emerged victorious in Men’s Veterans, defeating Sunil Jain. The tournament was organized by Jammu District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association and J&K Sports Council’s “My Youth, My Pride” initiative. Chief guest on the occasion was Rajeev Sharma and guest of honour Satpal Singh. Prominent attendees included NIS coaches Gurvinder Singh and Asad Sharma, Satbir Singh, Ajay Sharma and Maninder Singh.
