SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Mithun Manhas, the newly elected President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a celebrated cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir, received a grand reception at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar, marking his first visit to the Valley after assuming the top post in Indian cricket.
The event, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), witnessed a massive turnout of players, officials and enthusiastic cricket fans. Manhas was welcomed with flower garlands, loud cheers and bursting of crackers, reflecting the pride and joy of the cricketing community of J&K.
Senior JKCA functionaries, including Brigadier Anil Gupta (Member-Administration, JKCA), officially welcomed him with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and felicitated him at a special function. Mithun Manhas expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love and support and reaffirmed his commitment to uplift cricket in the region.
He emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent and ensuring better infrastructure and opportunities for aspiring cricketers of J&K. JKCA officials hailed his appointment as a monumental moment for the region, calling him a symbol of hope, leadership, and inspiration for the youth.
