JAMMU, Oct 14: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu organized the Inter-District UT Level competitions in the disciplines of Fencing and Table Tennis for under-14 boys and girls at MA Stadium, Jammu. The event, aimed at promoting grassroots-level sports and scouting young talent, witnessed the participation of nearly 300 students from across Jammu and Kashmir.
In the Table Tennis (U-14 Boys) semi-finals, District Jammu defeated District Udhampur by 3-0 with stellar performances by Sayam, Saman, Aahaan and Esha, while District Poonch beat District Samba by 3-0, led by Yuvraj, Bilal and Mashaq. In the Girls’ category, District Jammu overpowered District Shopian by 3-0 through Mayra Devan, Shristi and Ridhm Baveen and District Srinagar edged past District Bandipora by 3-2 with strong efforts from Aolfor, Maheen and Manyam. In Fencing (U-14 Boys), Harsdhan from District Jammu secured 1st position, followed by Souvik (Jammu), Faizan (Bandipora), and Keshav (Samba).
The competitions were smoothly conducted by experienced officials including Ujjwal Gupta, Shifali Gupta, Abdul Qadir, Jagdish Raj, Anthony Matto, Rekha Ratra, Gurdeepika Kour, Afta Alam, Parmod Singh, Gourav Sharma, Rajiv Kumar and other technical experts from the department.
