Gen Singh flags off Ace of Spades Mountaineering Exhibition

JAMMU, Aug 6: Mountaineering Expedition to Mount Zago Kangdi (6240m) in the Siachen Glacier Region, being organized by the Ace of Spade Division was flagged off by Lt Gen KH Singh, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), White Knight Corps in a simple function today.
The un-scaled peak has been selected with an aim to inculcate the spirit of adventure, exploration and inquisitiveness.
The challenges likely to be faced by the team include deep crevasse, adverse weather and avalanches.
The preparation for the event started in January this year with detailed selection of persons.
The team consisting of 18-members included six reserve members and is a mix of experienced and young climbers. Prior to the expedition the team will also undergo two weeks pre-expedition training at Siachen Base Camp.
During his address to the team, the GOC said that the successful scaling of the summit will embolden the spirit of adventure and team effort amongst all ranks of the Ace of Spade Division.
