Book exhibition held at Leh

LEH, Aug 2: Principal Moravian Mission School Leh inaugurated a book exhibition titled ‘Leh Book Exhibition’ organised by National Book Trust, India and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh in collaboration with District Administration, Leh today at the open space adjacent to the auditorium hall, Polo ground Leh.
Addressing on the occasion, the Principal said that being an avid reader of books he feels that a book reader will never feel bored or alone. Looking at the life scenario of Ladakh, Gergan felt that we have ample reading time especially during winters when we have almost nothing to do and to break the intellectual paucity there should be reading rooms at walking distance, with good books at affordable price to help create a platform for promoting reading habits.
In his welcome speech, Dy. Director (Northern Region) Mohd. Imranul Haque told the gathering that their aim for organizing this book exhibition is to promote reading habits among Ladakhi society which is considerably lesser as compared to other places.
About 1500 books for reading and sale in this exhibition, Haque informed that this is their second exhibition in Leh, the first was held in the year 2012 and to encourage readers NBT has an offering of 10% discount on books.
With life stories, autobiographies, geography, science, history, culture, agriculture, creativity, folklore, regional, religious, illustrated books for children of all age and many, this exhibition have books in English, Hindi and Urdu languages. The exhibition would culminate on August 8, 2014.
