JAMMU, Aug 1: The 40th Jammu District Badminton Championships commenced at the Badminton Hall, MA Stadium, here today. The tournament is being organized by the Jammu City & District Badminton Association under the aegis of the Badminton Association of J&K and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council.
The championship was inaugurated by Satpal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, J&K Sports Council, in the presence of several dignitaries and badminton enthusiasts. Around 180 players from across Jammu District are participating in the week-long event, which will conclude on August 6.
Competitions are being held in various categories including Mini (Under-11), Sub-Junior (Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17), Junior (Under-19) and Senior (Men/Women) in singles, doubles and mixed doubles formats. The event aims to provide a competitive platform for young and senior shuttlers while promoting the sport across the region.
Prominent personalities present during the inauguration included Dr. O.D. Sharma, Chairman BAJK, Kamlesh Kumar Shrikul, President JCDBA, Ashi Nod, Manager Indoor Complex, Balbir Jamwal, General Secretary BAJK, Ankush Manhas, Anil Gaind, Basanti Bhatt, S.K. Sharma and Pawanjit Singh.
