JAMMU, July 12: A sensational knock of unbeaten 57 runs by Dhruv Mahajan and an all-round show by skipper Manik Gupta helped KCCC to trounce RCC Srinagar by a margin of 20 runs to qualify for the finals of Chevrolet Cup T20 Cricket Tournament at KC Public School ground adjacent to KC Sports Academy, here.
Earlier, batting first, KCCC rode on an unbeaten knock of 57 runs by Dhruv Mahajan to score a fighting total of 146 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhruv hit 8 delectable boundaries and one massive six in his 33-ball knock, while Manik contributed 38 runs off 40 balls, studded with 5 boundaries. Vimarsh Kaw and Raman Dutta also chipped in with 15 and 10 runs respectively. For RCC Srinagar, Dilbagh Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 wickets, while Amit Sharma and Jatin claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
In reply, despite a splendid innings of 44 runs off 44 balls, studded with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes failed to chase the target as RCC Srinagar managed to score 126 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 20 runs. Jatin Wadhawan contributed 20 runs off 19 balls with one four and one six, while Rohit Bhat and Puneet Wattal chipped in with 10 runs each. For KCCC, Manik Gupta was pick of the bowlers, who bagged 3 important wickets by conceding 18 runs in his 4 overs, while Dhruv Mahajan, Sahil Sharma and Soumay Jain claimed one wicket each. Raman Thaploo was instrumental behind the stumps, scalping 3 wickets. Manik Gupta was declared man of the match and claimed Westside Coupon worth Rs 1000.
