KARGIL, June 26: As part of the Pre-Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, the Sher Quila Cricket League 2025 concluded with great enthusiasm in Batalik.
The 8-day tournament was jointly organized by the Fire and Fury Corps of the Army and local community members. Fourteen teams from various sports clubs across Kargil district participated in the league, reflecting strong local engagement. In a thrilling final, Chulichan B defeated Darchik A by 19 runs, with Mohd Toha of the winning team being named Man of the Match.
The closing ceremony was graced by Kacho Mohammed Feroz, Executive Councillor for Tourism, LAHDC Kargil, as chief guest, along with senior military and civil dignitaries. On the occasion, five former Kargil War porters were honored for their invaluable service during the 1999 conflict.
Feroz lauded the Army for promoting sports and positive engagement in remote border areas, saying such events identify local talent and keep youth away from negative influences like drug abuse. He also paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil War.
The tournament drew enthusiastic crowds of locals and tourists, including young visitor Master Ridhansh from Jalandhar, who praised the Army’s initiative in Ladakh’s scenic terrain. The event underscored the deep civil-military bond and the enduring legacy of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
