UDHAMPUR, June 24: President of District Mountaineering Association Udhampur, Verinder Slathia, a retired JKAS officer, along with Kiran Jamwal, Principal of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, flagged off the 5th batch of Tawi Trekkers J&K, comprising 90 students of the school, for a trekking programme to Dharamshala-Mcleodganj area of Himachal Pradesh.
The trekking programme is being organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K to promote adventure and nature-based activities among the youth. The group was accompanied by Chairman of the school Upkar Singh Jamwal and teachers Shruti Ghalotra, Dhunakshi Thakur, Vicky Sharma and Mangal Singh. Two sport climbers, Vikas Singh and Kashish Bharti, also escorted the group.
The programme aims to instill a love for adventure and nature, offering students a refreshing break from urban life. Besides trekking in the Dhauladhar range, the students will visit iconic sites such as the Dalai Lama Temple, Norbulingka Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Chamunda Temple, Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, tea gardens and a tea factory.
