REASI, June 2: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Hritik Sharma, a promising young Archer from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, Katra, has been selected to represent India at the World University Games 2025 scheduled to be held in Germany. Recognizing his consistent performance and potential, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has extended financial assistance of Rs 2.37 lakh to facilitate his participation in the prestigious international event.
Hritik has been training at the Complex since 2020 and has consistently demonstrated his talent at various national-level competitions.
Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of SMVDSB, said, “This sponsorship is not just financial assistance-it represents our faith in Hritik’s potential to bring laurels to the country. The Shrine Board has been investing Rs 2.5-3 crore annually for nearly a decade to create world-class sports infrastructure and training facilities. The Sports Complex has evolved into a true Centre of Excellence, where young talents like Hritik are nurtured into champions. The success of international archers like Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi, both Arjuna Awardees, stands as a testament to our efforts.”
The CEO also congratulated para-archers Rakesh Kumar, Sheetal Devi, and Jyoti Baliyan for winning four medals (two gold, two bronze) at the Para Archery World Ranking Tournament in Rome, significantly contributing to India’s overall medal tally. Currently, the SMVD Sports Complex trains over 150 athletes across various disciplines and remains a beacon of sports excellence in the region.
