JAMMU, May 12: Nitin Kumar from Jammu & Kashmir has won Bronze Medal in the Chuvadukal event of Kalarippayattu at 7th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025, currently underway in Bihar. His outstanding performance has brought pride to the Union Territory and spotlighted the region’s growing strength in traditional martial arts.
The Kalarippayattu Association of J&K expressed immense pride in Nitin’s achievement, recognizing it as a symbol of the sport’s development in the region. The association’s General Secretary, Danish Sharma, praised Nitin’s hard work and dedication, saying, “His success is not only a personal milestone but also a proud moment for the entire Kalarippayattu community in Jammu & Kashmir.”
He further added that such accomplishments reflect the growing interest and talent in this ancient martial art form among the youth of J&K. The association also acknowledged the vital support of Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, whose efforts in promoting traditional sports have helped young athletes thrive.
Nitin Kumar’s victory serves as an inspiration for aspiring martial artists and reinforces the importance of preserving and promoting India’s indigenous sports on national platforms. With this win, Nitin has made a significant mark and motivated many young sportspersons in the region to aim higher.
